Developed as a collaboration of leading UK universities to develop a truly self-powered defibrillator cabinet. With an initial desire to produce a solar-only powered cabinet, it soon became apparent the UK does not receive enough sunlight in winter to power a heating system, therefore the addition of the wind turbine was required to ensure the cabinet works all year round.
Whilst the combination of solar and wind will provide the required charging for the 100Ah battery, issues can occur, and therefore we have developed a remote monitoring system using the mobile phone network to allow the cabinet to report back to us with the status on a daily basis. This means we can alert you to any faults, as well as the environmental and charge status of the cabinet.
Remote monitoring of the internal environment of the cabinet includes temperature & humidity, and detects any unsafe gas build up. Additionally, monitoring detects if the door is open or closed and if the defibrillator is hung on the hook or not.
There is also a feature to create an internal wifi hotspot to allow compatible defibrillators to connect to the internet and communicate with the central hub. In addition, there is also a built-in accelerometer to detect if the cabinet is under attack or being physically moved.
Monitoring also includes the external temperature and humidity, the battery compartment, the charge status, battery status, and management of the charging process. All information is reported daily to a central system and can be reported to the custodian on a daily or weekly basis. Certain other criteria triggers immediate notification, for example if the cabinet is opened, if the defibrillator is removed, if the battery level is low, and so on.
The complete solar and wind powered defibrillator cabinet requires a concrete base to be cast before installation, with a sub-frame set in the concrete for the cabinet to bolt down to. All fixings are securely housed within the battery compartment so there are no external fixings accessible.
- Completely self contained unit – no external power source required.
- Wind & Solar powered to provide heating all year round anywhere in the UK.
- Fully remote monitored - be notified if the cabinet is being accessed or there is a fault with the heating system.
- Secure, locked defibrillator cabinet capable of housing every model of public access defibrillator on the market.
